Capital Corridor

Community Development Corporation

About The CCCDC

History

The idea of a community development corporation grew from a dream of the late Dr. S. Howard Woodson Jr. He envisioned Shiloh Baptist Church providing services for individuals in the immediate and surrounding communities. During Rev. DeForest “Buster” Soaries’ tenure at Shiloh, the language of CCCDC was introduced. Upon Rev. Armstrong’s arrival he moved the vision and language to fruition in 2001 with the creation of the Capital Corridor Community Development Corporation.

In February, 2001, Reverend Armstrong, members of Shiloh Baptist Church, and residents of Trenton’s North and West Wards created  the CDC as a means through which all people may learn and practice the tenets of self-worth, self-reliance and socio-economic stability.

Vision

The Capital Corridor CDC, linked with Shiloh Baptist Church, will be the model African American church- affiliated Community Development Corporation.  It is a partnership that, in our hearts and minds, will ensure the spiritual, social, and economic stability of our neighborhoods and communities.

Mission

The Capital Corridor Community Development Corporation’s mission is to improve the quality of life of residents in Trenton and neighboring communities by empowering individuals and families socially, educationally, and spiritually.
